Outlook with Goldmine Plugin: Data Error

December 15th, 2010 No comments

If you’re getting the following error message in Outlook, and you have the Goldmine plugin installed, it’s probably the plugin that’s causing it:

Unable to convert ‘System.String’ to ‘System.Int32’

This error occurs when the Goldmine plugin attempts to display invalid data in the Goldnine pane in Outlook. The invalid data could be Null values stored as units or amounts in forecasted sales. You can;

  1. Check for null values for units or amount in forecasted sales: NUMBER1, NUMBER2 fields in CAL table, where RECTYPE = ‘S’
  2. Manually cleanse data by changing the nulls to zeros.

or

  1. Turn off display of Forecasted Sales in Outlook. Go to Setup GoldMine Plus, Options, uncheck Show Forecasted Sales.

Easy.

Trying to install the Google Apps Outlook Sync connector on your XP 64 bit PC?  Getting the following error: “Could not find http.sys.  Please install all patches specified in the system requirements.  For more details, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939786”

Don’t worry, it can be done!

Copy the http.sys file from “C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\” to “C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Drivers\”

Install the connector.

Remove Outlook attachments

November 2nd, 2009 No comments

I just found this out myself the other day, you can remove attachments from emails in Outlook. Handy for reducing your Exchange mailbox size.

Just open the email (can’t be done from preview), right click the attachment and select Remove. Close and save the email when prompted.

Do you get the following error message when clicking on a hyper link in Outlook 2003?

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

This is usually very easily fixed. Go to Control Panel> Internet Options> Programs> Reset Web Settings.

That should fix it!

Outlook 2003 Signature ActiveX Error

October 15th, 2009 No comments

If you get when composing or replying to an email in Outlook 2003 you get the following error message: “Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.  As a result, the page may not display correctly”. This is probably caused by your Outlook email signature.

This will usually occur if you used the advanced edit to edit your signature. It is caused by the smart tags Word adds into the HTML. The easiest way to fix this is to recreate your Outlook signature from scratch without using the advanced edit. This worked for me.
